Today I got some fun and exciting news! I placed two photos in the [AG]WPJA's quarterly contest :) The WPJA is a wedding photojournalist association I belong to. They have a sister-site, the Artistic Guild of the WPJA, for those more artsy-types of photographs.
You can check out both sites here: WPJA or [AG]WPJA
Here are the winning entries:
From Lisa and Clayton's wedding last May: |

| And a sweet moment between Nicole and her dad right before they walked down the aisle last April: |

Hooray for wedding season! Well, it's a little early for wedding season to officially begin, but yesterday we traveled over to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, for our first wedding of 2008. It warmed up to a balmy 30 degrees and it was a gorgeous day! We were excited to get back to weddings. Last December feels like so long ago ...
Maren and Robby are such a sweet couple. They both love ice fishing, hunting, and snow mobiles (Thief River Falls is the home to Arctic Cat). We had such a great time working with them :) They were so down to earth and fun ... Maren and the bridesmaids even wore Ugg-like boots most of the day to get through the snow.
Here's Maren at the salon in the morning:

| Maren's dress was simple and elegant. She dressed it up with a super sparkly necklace and bracelet. |

| On the way to the church. |

They were married in an adorable country church less than a mile from Maren's house.
Maren's aunt made the cake ... it was the best cake I've ever had (and it was pretty good lookin', too!) |

The wedding party in front of the awesome barn at Maren's house. |

Aren't these vintage snowmobiles the coolest!? |

The couple driving off into the sunset ... can you see the cans behind the car?

| Finally, here's me with Maren, Ashley and Brittany doing the electric slide (my all-time favorite wedding song!). |

The actual temperature this morning ... I'm scared to find out what the wind chill is. |

| Here's a fun science project we tried today at the job (instead of doing actual work!) You put hot water in a cup and throw it high up in the air and BOOM! it turns to ice. Well, more like snow, but you know what I mean. Oh, and the temperature must be absolutely freakin' cold for it to work. Sorry California blog readers. :) |

Hello from the frozen tundra! This weekend we had our first blizzard in Grand Forks. Very exciting :) Despite the cold, cold temperatures and blowing snow, Kory and I still made a trip down to Fargo on Sunday to meet up with Corey (I know, another Kory/Corey/Cory! There are so many!) and his entourage. We are so glad we had the chance to meet up with this family! They were lots of fun.
Corey's mom told me that he wasn't into having his photo taken. We understood, and said we'd try our hardest to make it a good experience for him. Well, we didn't have to work too hard at all. Corey was so cool to work with. He's got a great attitude and a great laugh, and we were smiling the whole session.
Thanks for making the trip to Fargo to meet up with us, Corey! We hope you love the photos :)

Kory and I had some time to kill as the other Corey was gettin' beautified. Here's Kory working on his "official photographer" position. |

And here are some formal-ish photos that would make our mothers proud. I took Kory's, and he took mine. Isn't it interesting to see how differently two people can take the same photo? Here we had the same light, same background, same camera and same lens. Crazy, eh? |

Finally, photos of Corey!
Can you tell it is 15 below? |
