Happy Halloween! PersonalSaturday, October 31, 2009

Happy Saturday and Happy Halloween! We have the weekend off (the first weekend off in a very, very long time!) so now I have time to catch-up on the blog and other things in life, like doing my laundry.

Monday we'll start posting everything we've been working on lately :: weddings, family sessions, and child sessions. But first ...

Here's a timely post of our annual pumpkin carving/birthday celebration for Megan. Check out 2008 here and 2007 here.

Pumpkins fresh from the garden ...

Megan saved seeds for the garden next year :)

Michael celebrated the pumpkin carving by eating something orange.

Practicing knife safety

Of course, the birthday celebration wouldn't be complete without cake! Here's Megan blowing out her candles, with Claire assisting :)

Early winter PersonalWednesday, October 14, 2009

Weather-wise, it's been an unimpressive year here in the Midwest. It was a cold spring, a cool summer, and now we are skipping fall and heading straight for winter (or so it seems.) The leaves on the trees haven't had time to change color; they are just falling off green.

Yesterday I met up with my favorites girls, Megan and Claire, to play in the leaves.

Here's Megan, getting buried in leaves!

And Kory

And me!

I love Claire's face here ... throwing leaves can be scary, right?

I asked Kory to take a photo of me jumping into the pile of leaves. This is what I got ::

I love this photo ::

Pleased to introduce Fresh Wed NewsWednesday, October 7, 2009

Yay! I am SO excited to show you this new project we've been kicking around since last March. I've hinted at it a bit and we are now ready to announce it!

Along with a few local vendors, we are creating a group called Fresh Wed that will provide fresh ideas for weddings through a blog.

I know, I know. You might be thinking, "another wedding blog?" Yes, there are plenty of resources out there if you are a bride or groom :: theknot.com and countless fabulous wedding blogs, plus national magazines like Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormonde, and Brides. But there isn't a good local resource for brides and grooms in the Red River Valley.

That's what will make us a little different. Fresh Wed will be a group of modern wedding vendors in the Red River Valley that share a passion for their craft. At freshwed.com, group members will offer advice and tips for wedding planning, show real weddings + engagement stories from the area, and even provide a behind-the-scenes look into the wedding industry.

Edited to add :: Become a fan of Fresh Wed on Facebook HERE

The blog will go live on Nov. 16 :)

Becca and Josh: Engagement PortraitsTuesday, October 6, 2009

I think the last time I saw the sun was during Becca + Josh engagement session over two weeks ago. This whole cloudy, sad-like-Seattle-weather we've been having is really getting to me. Today I saw a smidgen of sun for about 4 minutes and it made my day. Maybe I need to move to California or Florida? Maybe just for the winter?

Anywho, the sun that we did see during Becca + Josh's session was lovely. When we met Becca + Josh, we were instant friends. They are so sweet and funny :: we absolutely loved hanging out with them. We even had post-session snacks + beverages at Nye's bar, where we got to hear all about their first date (dinner then drinks at Nye's!), their wedding plans (she's Catholic and he's Jewish), and their love for education (she's bright!).

We can't wait for their wedding next May in Fargo!

Oh, and did I mention Becca is gorgeous? 'Cause she totally is.

We started with photos on the Stone Arch Bridge. We almost got run over by bikes/runners/Segway riders about 7 times.

So pretty!
