It was a snowy, wet, cold day when we arrived in St. Paul, Mn. for Kelly + Scott's engagement session. Big, poofy snowflakes fell for about two hours. Then, at the exact moment we started the session, the snow turned to rain, and eventually the rain stopped. For the first part of the session, we stayed warm and dry indoors. Then we hopped outside at the end to capture the gorgeous fall trees right next to Scott and Kelly's house!
Kelly and Scott are a wonderfully kind, funny, and sweet couple and we knew we'd be bffs right away :) We had a great time with them during this session and we can't wait for their wedding next July!

I meet Liza for the first time on her beautiful wedding day in December, 2004. Since then, Liza and her husband Nathan had the adorable Isabelle (Izzy), moved from Minneapolis to Grand Forks, and are expecting another little girl this December! It's so exciting to watch our clients' families grow!

Have you suddenly noticed that Christmas stuff is everywhere? Christmas lights are up, Christmas music is playing in stores, and eggnog is on sale at Hugo's :) Apparently it's that time of year!
It's also a special time for us :: on Monday the new blog, freshwed.com, went live! It'll be updated about three times a week with fabulous info on weddings from wedding vendors in the Red River Valley. If you haven't stopped by, check it out here :: Fresh Wed.
And on to the wedding post ...
Lindsey and her fiance Matt had a few plans in mind for their wedding, but ultimately chose a small but lovely wedding ceremony at University Park in Grand Forks, followed by a bigger open house/reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. I was extra-excited for this wedding because I see Lindsey, the bride, every time I visit the orthodontist :) She's the friendly face that greets me, handles all my appointments, and sympathizes with me when I've got the "Ow my mouth hurts!" face. In the year that I've been going to Dr. Nuveen's office, Lindsey has really become a good friend.
So it really broke my heart when rain was in the forecast for Lindsey + Matt's wedding. It wasn't raining in the morning, but sure enough, it was pouring rain at the time the wedding was scheduled. The ceremony was quickly moved to the Hilton where Matt was directing the florists and the officiant and the guests (what a guy!).
Even though it wasn't the outdoor wedding Lindsey wanted, it was still a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony. After, Lindsey and Matt celebrated with their family and friends during the open house.
The sun was shining at the end of the day so we took Matt and Lindsey out for a portrait session. It was a perfect way to end a wedding :: smiling and laughing with the one you love.

Meet the Buckley family! Our session with this adorable family was in October when the weather wasn't so fabulous, but they made the best of it! Keegan, age 4, was having a great time playing in the leaves. Tiana, age 2, was just happy to run around :)
