Helen and Chris: Wedding WeddingsThursday, August 28, 2008

I posted a sneak peek of Helen and Chris' wedding photos a couple weeks ago after Helen politely begged me to show her some images. But they still need a proper, official blog post, so here it finally is.

Helen and Chris' wedding was held at the Draxton Farm just west of Northwood, North Dakota. The whole day, from start to finish, was amazing. I should confess that Helen and Chris are my friends, and that makes me a little biased, maybe. But their wedding day was really fun, really relaxed and casual yet elegant and important at the same time. Helen and Chris both have amazing families and awesome friends and we were so happy to be a part of their celebration.

There was just something about the light out at the farm ... we took thousands of photos and they are some of my all-time favorite images. I had the most difficult time picking photos for the blog!

I'll just stop rambling now and show you the photos! (WARNING: This is the largest blog post EVER, so it gets a little long ... )

Mandi and Brad: Wedding WeddingsWednesday, August 27, 2008

Mandi and Brad had a beautiful Friday wedding in Fargo a few weeks back, and we were on-hand to celebrate with them! We met Mandi and Brad at Marisa and David's wedding last year when Mandi was a bridesmaid. This time, Marisa was in bridesmaid mode and it was Mandi's big day :)

We had a great day with Mandi, Brad, and their family and friends. Thanks for inviting us to share the day with you, M+B! Hope you are having fun in Florida!

Wedding week! NewsTuesday, August 26, 2008

It's wedding week here at Shawna Noel Photography. We're hard at work editing all of our summer weddings, and we've got five beautiful and unique weddings to blog ... from a BIG small town wedding to a lakeside-ceremony to a reception in a barn ... so stay tuned to the blog to see all of them :)

People always ask us if we get tired of shooting weddings each weekend, and the answer is a definite no! Every wedding we photograph is so unique. It's exciting to see how people put their personal stamp on their wedding day. And as a girl, I get really excited to see all the details like the flowers, the dress, and the shoes! Check out Leah's Manolos and her fabulous lace dress from her wedding last weekend ::


In honor of wedding week, here are some random Shawna Noel Photography wedding factoids ::

Favorite part of the wedding day ::
Shawna :: Right before the bride walks down the aisle with her dad. I love the moments between the bride and her dad before they make their grand entrance into the church or ceremony location.
Kory :: I like the time we set aside for couple-only portraits. The couple has a chance to relax and be themselves in front of the camera, and I like capturing the moments they share at that time.

What we listen to ::
Shawna :: When I edit wedding photos (or any photos), I'm usually listening to The Current radio station out of Minneapolis (hooray for the internet!). But when I first start editing a wedding, I ALWAYS listen to "The Way You Look Tonight" by Tony Bennett. I know, it's totally dorky, but it's a tradition I started years ago and now it just feels wrong to edit a wedding without that song.
Kory :: I listen to some internet radio and right now, I'm really into the Submarines (and apparently, so is Apple) and Ryan Adams. Oh, and I listen to how-to-speak Russian podcasts sometimes in case I ever travel to Russia for a wedding.

Angela PortraitsMonday, August 25, 2008

Angela is the beautiful baby girl of Megan and Tyler. I met Megan and Tyler at Heather and Kyle's wedding in Williston last year and remember thinking, what a fun couple! One of Megan's friends contacted me before her baby shower to ask if she could buy a maternity session for Megan. I said, "Of course!" What a great gift :)

After Megan received her gift session, she decided she'd rather have photos of her new baby than just her belly, so we scheduled a family session. Tyler and Megan are amazing parents so far ... we had a lot of fun during their session!

Kiersten: Senior session PortraitsFriday, August 22, 2008

On the morning we were scheduled to take Kiersten's senior photos, it was pouring. Normally for girls, rain is a bad thing .But Kiersten didn't mind at all. She even noticed an umbrella in my car and asked if we could go outside! How cool is she?

So we played in the rain a bit, then met up for session #2 the next day with no rain. Here are some of my favorite shots ::
