Lesli and Greg: Engagement

I love winter engagement sessions! Isn't there something sweet and romantic about snowy engagement photos? I think so. :)

Despite the fact that I can't talk well (think 4th grade speech impediment), Lesli and Greg only made fun of me a little bit during their engagement session. Lesli and Greg are both genuine and down-to-Earth. Greg has a great sense of humor and had us laughing the entire time. He made me promise to only post the good photos of him on the blog (which really limited my options -- haha, just kidding Greg!).

Lesli and Greg attended UND and are into Sioux hockey in a big way. Naturally, we stopped at the Ralph Engelstad Arena for some photo fun then headed to University Park for a few snowy outdoor photos.

We are excited for their wedding this fall!
High fives for everyone!
Ice skating rink!
How adorable is Lesli?

Evan: Six months old

Happy Valentine's weekend! I'm celebrating Valentine's Day tomorrow with a mushy brunch ... I still can't chew anything, so I'm just eating soft foods. The blender has become a good friend of mine!

Here's a session we had a couple weeks ago with adorable little Evan. He's got a head of unruly hair that I LOVED ... I mean, how cute is a kid with tousled hair?

Healing nicely :)

Today it has been exactly one week since my big jaw surgery and I'm feeling pretty good! The surgery process was really simple and surprisingly comfortable. All of my nurses at MeritCare were very helpful and kind. Plus the morphine was great (I think, because I didn't have much pain at all!).

I've been in the office since Monday trying to respond to emails and things. I can't speak all to well because I have a splint in my mouth to help align and heal my jaw. The splint will be taken out in a couple weeks, hopefully.

Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement, prayers, and funny stories. My surgeon and orthodontist both told me they are amazed how quickly I am recovering. I genuinely think it's because I've got such a wonderful group of friends supporting me and taking care of me. Thank you, thank you, thank you :)

Kory took a photo of me each day throughout the last week (please excuse my bad hair day -- that'd be days one through three!)

Out for surgery

Early, early Tuesday morning I am headed to Fargo to have surgery on my jaw (I have to be there at 5am, which means leaving Grand Forks at 3:30am!). I've known about this surgery for about 18 months and really, I'm still scared thinking about it. It's the last step of my orthodontia treatment to correct my overbite. A lot of people have told me stories about their jaw surgeries and it seems like overall it's not so bad. But it's the first time I've ever had any type of surgery. I keep thinking about all of the horrible things that can go wrong. And I worry I might have a Jay Leno-sized chin when this whole thing is done :)

Because of the surgery I'll be out of the office starting today. I hope to be back next week, depending on how I'm feeling. Kory will be the email master while I'm gone, so feel free to email shawnanoel at gmail dot com if you need anything.

Here's a recent photo by Dave at Milestones ... Dave just loooooves taking photos of my braces :)
