Terri and Greg: Bismarck wedding

We first met the Folk family on the hottest day of the year in 2007. It was 105 degrees in the shade in the small town of Stanton, North Dakota. Cassie Folk was getting married to Chris Huckleberry and we were there, sweating our behinds off, to photograph it. Despite the heat, it was one of our favorite weddings of the year. Cassie and Huck (Chris' nickname) were fun, easy-going, and had a great sense of humor. You can imagine my excitement, then, when Cassie's sister Terri contacted me about her wedding this year. We warned her that she may have big shoes to fill :: her sister's wedding was fabulous, after all :)

Terri and Greg's wedding definitely lived up to the Folk family name. Greg can really get down on the dance floor (you've gotta respect a man who can dance!) and Terri, like her sister, is funny and easy-going. It was wonderful to spend time with the Folk family again!

The couple was married at St. George's Episcopal Church in Bismarck and the reception was held at the Ramada.
Terri's wedding dress may just be my favorite of the whole year!
Congrats to Whitney and Shane, Oct. 20, 2007. I picked on this guy for bringing another couple's beer koozie to Terri + Greg's wedding.
Rings. Lifesaves. Yum.

Kayla and Doug: Grand Forks wedding

From the time we met Kayla and Doug at a coffee shop in November 2008 to the time we photographed their wedding this fall, we became good friends. We bonded mostly during a freezing cold trip to Duluth in early summer for their engagement session. I mean, who knew it would only be 38 degrees in June in Duluth? And we love go to wine tasting at Happy Harry's -- we always know we'll see Kayla and Doug there!

Kayla and Doug's ceremony took place here in Grand Forks at Immanuel Lutheran Church. It was a gorgeous day and we were excited to see our new friends tie the knot!
Here are a few of Kayla and Doug's engagement photos ::

Cassie and Jason: Fargo wedding

Cassie and I were instant friends when she emailed me about her engagement session. She had braces and wanted to wait 'til the last possible moment to do the session. Oh, do I know about not wanting braces in photos, I told her. Having braces as an adult comes with a host of fun challenges ... one of them is not looking like you have braces (and therefore not looking like a 12 year old!).

Cassie did have the braces on for her engagement session, but luckily had them removed for the wedding! Cassie and Jason said "I Do" in West Fargo at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. It was a lovely day filled with a lot of laughter and smiles :)
Isn't Cassie's dress fabulous?
Cassie and Jason saw each other before the ceremony and then we drove around Fargo with the wedding party taking fun photos :)
Waiting to go down the aisle
The couple got a little surprise when they walked out of the church
A fully decorated getaway car!

Alish and Zach: Lake Metigoshe wedding

When Alish first contacted me about her wedding near Lake Metigoshe, I was really, really excited. See, I grew up in Minot and Lake Metigoshe was the cool weekend hangout (Hello, Erin Fink's cabin!). Plus it is simply a gorgeous location for a wedding.

It was a sun-shining, cooler day on the lake for the "A to Z" wedding. Alish and Zach were married at Lake Metigoshe State Park and the reception was at Twin Oaks resort.

We had a lot of great details to photograph throughout the day (I love the mismatched old chairs at the ceremony site! So cute!) ::
I started the day with the girls as they got ready ::
I loved this first meeting spot : a trail in the woods near the lake.
The charming ceremony location :
The flower girls were too shy to walk down the aisle by themselves, so Alish and her dad walked them in :)
Alish requested a ring photo on her daughter's toes. Those toes were really wiggly and made it a challenging photo :)
After dinner, the wedding party took in a sunset pontoon ride.
A gorgeous sunset ended the day.
