The family Peterson

Last night we met up with the Peterson family for some fall photos. Karen, mother extraordinaire, knew of a great location on the east side by the river. So we ran and frolicked through the tall grasses and hiked through some woods with the Petersons ... and got some great photos.

First up, six-year old Marlee. She was amazing in front of the camera ... a perfect little model :) Just look at that hand-on-hip action!
Little Jenna, who is 2. How cute is that curly red hair?
Five-year old Collin was another perfect model :) He was excited to do a jumping photo!
And Clarke, 10, is the oldest. Check out that serious face :)
The whole family, including mom Karen, dad Mike, grandma Colleen and uncle Scott
Best buds :)
And something a little different for a family shot.

Elaina

More fun with Elaina! In what's becoming an annual event, I met up with Elaina, Jeanette, and Brent last weekend and took some family photos. It's so much fun to watch Elaina grow up ... she's little miss independent now, and it's so cute :) And I still love her big, big brown eyes and gorgeous eyelashes.

Here are some of my favorite from her session. I love the balloon!
Having fun with mom and dad :)
Those eyes! So pretty.

Whoo-hoo Wilco

Last week we took a quick trip down to Minneapolis for a Wilco show. Wilco, my favoritebandofalltime, made me oh-so sad earlier this fall when they canceled their Winnipeg show that we had FRONT-ROW tickets for. That's right, front-row. Alas, I was still very happy to see them in Minneapolis, and it was a great show.

Here's a rockin' photo of Mr. Jeff Tweedy himself in a cowboy hat (see Kory, you are fashionable!). I didn't take any photos at the show because of the camera drama (see posts below), but photographer Zach Nagle was at the show and took this cool photo. Check out more of Zach's work here.

Kathryn and Darrin

We traveled to Fargo on Friday to take some fun snaps of Kathryn and Darrin, who are getting married next June in the Minneapolis area.

K+D were so much fun! And, Kory said to say, they were the dirtiest couple we know! Well, the dirt is our fault. See, we had this great idea to take photos by these old railroad ties, and when the brave couple leaned against these lovely ties, they got all tarred up. Then, in the park, they were laying in the grass and got covered in leaf mulch. The things one must do for great photos :) He hee.

Despite the dirt, we got some beautiful photos and had a great time :)

I think my cameras hate me

What a sad week ... this week I've had not one but TWO cameras call it quits. (Warning, dorky photo tech talk ahead.)

First, the little camera that could, the Canon PowerShot SD800 IS, is in the shop again. It would take photos, but only blurry photos. It was funny for a while (ha! look! it's blurry! how funny!) but I thought that the blurry look was only cool for so long, so it got sent in.

Then, the good ol' Canon 5D took a turn for the worse last Friday. First, the LCD screen stopped working, then the ISO button was down and out, and then the white balance was a no-go, then exposure compensation was not working. Seeing as some of those functions are crucial to taking a somewhat good photo, the 5D was sent in to Canon on Saturday.

But there is a light at the end of this sad, camera-less blog post: Last night I bought a shiny new camera. Hooray, new camera! It's a 40D, to replace my 20D. And the 20D found a new home with my friend and client Janna! When I've got some photos with the new guy, I'll post 'em!
